Clover Abbott, Packaging Technologist, innocent ltd

Clover trained in Industrial Design and Technology, starting out as a product design engineer before falling into the world of packaging – where she enjoys the combination of detail and applied logic with the stimulating variety of working across the whole product lifecycle. Clover has approached the packaging challenge from different sides, having worked as a pack tech for UK retailers (Home Retail Group and Boots), and for government advisory body WRAP where she promoted ways in which packaging can be used to reduce waste. Clover joined Innocent Drinks in 2010 and is responsible for the development of their plastic packaging, including the recent juice launch in 0.9l and 1.35l PET bottles.

Berco Landman, Principal Scientist – Package Development, Research & Innovation, Heineken

Berco Landman studied mechanical engineering at the University of Delft, gaining an MSc degree in measurement and control in 1983. From 1983 to 1986, he started his career at Procter & Gamble’s European Technical Centre in Brussels as a Packaging Development Manager.

He joined Heineken in 1986 as a specialist in the packaging engineering department of Heineken Technisch Beheer BV.  In 1991, he became section manager of the bottling and packaging engineering department of Heineken Technical Services. He is currently senior project manager packaging of the Research and Development department of Heineken Supply Chain.

Stephan Eltink, International Account Manager, SABIC Sales Europe B.V.

Stephan Eltink is a graduate from Eindhoven University of Technology. He started his career at DSM (Geleen, Netherlands) in 1991 within R&D, where he was in charge of polymer research programs for various business units. In his next assignments he became responsible for technical marketing and application development of ABS (blends) and automotive polymers. This enabled him to work with DSM customers across Europe and Asia. In 2004 he entered the commercial arena and was appointed general sales & product manager STAMAX within SABIC Automotive Polymers. After this he was as business manager responsible for SABIC’s PP random copolymer business. As from early 2010 he is working with SABIC’s major customers in the segment of caps & closures, aiming to realise the strong growth ambitions of SABIC in this field.

Pascal Hennemann, Innovation Director, Promens

He start his career at DOW chemical, Netherlands, as development engineer. His other roles have included Rical (now Bericap) and REXAM.

At the beginning of year 2000 he joins Plastohm as R&D director and develop new  R&D program which lead to launch an innovation each year. In 2007 when Promens purchase Plastohm , he became Innovation director for Promens Personal & Health division.
 

Enrique Torres, Marketing Manager, Dow Europe GmbH

Enrique Torres is the Caps and Closures marketing manager for Dow Elastomers in the EMEA region. He has over nine years experience in the chemical industry with a focus on specialty plastics. His functional experience includes sales, marketing, supply chain, technical service and R&D. He received a Masters degree in Engineering from Canada/Germany and a Masters degree in International Business from Italy. He holds five patents and has four publications in journals.

Dr. Olaf Henschke, Technical Leader, Dow Europe GmbH

Dr. Olaf Henschke is Technical Leader for the Caps and Closure Application in Europe. Olaf is a 14-year veteran at Dow, with broad experience across a variety of plastics markets and product families, including Wire & Cable, Rigid Packaging, Specialty Plastics & Elastomers, DOWLEX™ Solution Polyethylene and Polypropylene, to name but a few. He has a PhD in Polymer Chemistry and is also a Six Sigma black belt.

Tarmo Raudsepp, Marketing Manager, Borealis AG

Tarmo Raudsepp has 20 years of general management and commercial experience from consulting and plastics industry. In Borealis he been holding various senior management positions in Finance, Sales and Marketing. Currently he leads team of Application Marketing Managers in advanced packaging area – covering product groups like healthcare, white goods, thin wall packaging, bottles and caps & closures.

Tarmo Raudsepp holds Masters degree in Economics from the Tallinn Technical University, MBA from the Helsinki School of Economics and Boston University and completed executive education at IMD, Lausanne.

Rian Stegema, Chief Technology Officer, Plasticum Group

Rian has collected a broad experience and expertise in the international plastics industry. Prior to his appointment as CTO of Plasticum Group in 2006 he held several technical, sales and management positions at Royal Ten Cate. Rian started his career at Battenfeld (injection moulding machines) in 1987, where he was responsible for the global technical roll-out of new production cells. In 1992 he founded his own company serving the international plastics industry, mainly focusing on operations, product- and process improvements. Before joining the management of Plasticum Group, Rian was Manager Innovation & Development at Plasticum’s operation in Ede (NL).

Walter Jungwirth, Vice President Business Unit Packaging, ENGEL Austria GmbH

Walter's educational qualitifcations are Apprenticeship electric / electronic engineering, Diploma industrial electronics and control technology and a Diploma international marketing. He has been the Vice President of Packaging at ENGEL for the past four years and has worked across the globe handling sales and marketing for all of the world's regions.

Richard Inns, Owner, PEC Partnership Limited (Former Chairman Unilever Packaging Group at Unilever)

Richard is the former chairman of the Unilever Packaging Group with a wealth of experience from a Brand Owner perspective. His session focuses on sustainability strategies and the place of packaging in the sustainability agenda.

He played a major role in identifying and evaluating new packaging technology from around the world from his time at the Unilever Corporate Packaging and Environment Group. Since becoming a consultant he has been an advisor to EUROPEN and has carried out projects for EUROPEN, ECR Europe, WRAP, BSi and major European packaging manufacturers and brand owners.

Luigi Rossi Ph.D., Independent Strategic Advisor, Keller and Heckman (Former Directorate General Health and Consumer Protection Chemical, Contaminants and Pesticides at European Commission)

Dr. Rossi is a graduate in chemistry. He has worked in Superior Institute of Health in Rome in analytical chemistry, food packaging migration and occupational health. He acted as Secretary of the Italian Committee on Toxicology for many years and as responsible for Food Contact Materials in EC for 30 years. He participated as speaker in hundreds Conferences in all world. As of May 1, 2006, Dr. Rossi is engaged as a "Strategic Advisor" in Keller and Heckman.

Michael Nieuwesteeg, General Manager, NVC Netherlands Packaging Centre

With more than 550 member companies (recycling, retail, packaging design, packaged goods manufacturing, supply of packaging materials, inks and machinery, services) the NVC focuses on innovation, information, education and serving the interests of its members. Michael also holds popular training on sustainable innovation in packaging and accessible design. He is a board  member of the World Packaging Organisation (WPO) and secretary of the European Packaging Institutes Consortium (EPIC).

Filip Feyaerts PhD., Managing Director, Printing International Group

Filip Feyaerts has started his carrier at Printing International as Engineering Manager in 2002.  In 2003 he became Managing Director of the manufacturer of high-end pad printing equipment. In the fast changing markets of today, he leads his team towards technological solutions that correspond to the current requirements that may differ from sector to sector. Printing International is active in sectors like Caps & Closures, Cosmetics, Medical Devices and Pharmaceuticals. He is inventor of several worldwide patents that protect the company’s technological innovations.

Dominic Cakebread, Director of Packaging Services, Canadean Limited

During 29 years in marketing research, Dominic has carried out over 500 international projects in the food and packaging sectors and has worked with most of the leading international packaging groups. He is also a full and qualified member of the Market Research Society.

Dominic is currently Director of Packaging Services at Canadean Limited.

Peter Martin, CEO/Design Director, Firebird.com Limited

Peter graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from King's College, and after a brief career in that vocation entered advertising. Starting in the UK, he rose via a globe-trotting set of steps to found his own agency in Singapore. At the height of its success, with billings in tens of millions, he sold this, and the multi-national blue-chip clientele secured, to US giant FCB.

By day, he works as a writer and designer with his creative collective, Firebird.com, which specialises in helping green and social enterprise clientele. Then, by night, weekends, holidays and tea breaks he edits www.Junkk.com. This multi-awarded and world-renowned free (to user) eco-site matchmaking those with nifty ideas for finding 2nd uses for stuff with those who can't bear to chuck stuff away if new ways can be suggested to save time, money or the planet. And from this was created RE:tie (www.retie.co.uk), a patented packaging enviro-design that has re:evolutionised the caps of bottles and jars to turn them from being a throw-away to something consumers will want to keep.

Stephen Dawson, CEO, Bapco Closures

Stephen joined Bapco in 2008 following almost 18 years in senior positions in global manufacturing businesses. Stephen spent eight years with the Autobar Packaging Group where he became Managing Director for U.K. and Holland in 2005 after joining as European Finance Director. Before Autobar he spent almost 10 years with the Cookson Group holding CFO roles for the U.K. and Europe since 1995. Throughout his career he has had material achievements in developing businesses, restructuring, turn around, and exiting European VC backed or listed multi site B2B manufacturing businesses. Stephen qualified as a chartered accountant at Ernst & Young in 1989.

Claus Ziegler, Managing Director Business Development-Closure Systems, Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd

Claus Ziegler was born in 1965 in Germany. In 1992, he finished his degree at the University Fachhochschule Wurzburg-Schweinfurt (Dipl. Ing. Elektrotechnik) and has been working for the KTW-Group since 1992.
 
He spent 12 years at KTW in Germany and since 2004 he is based at KTW-Austria. Since May 2011 the KTW Group belongs to the Canadian corporate group Husky Injection Molding Systems and offers injection molds of the KTW brand as a part of the totally integrated systems of Husky.

Ian brings to his current role a diverse mixture of company cultures and wide experience. Starting in1977 his career in speciality polymers and chemicals with the distributor Laporte UK Trading, Ian moved in 1987 to their main supplier Solvay as the UK Sales and Marketing manager for their PVC compounds division “BAP”. In this role Ian and his team successfully brought to the UK market the Organoleptic Calcium Zinc PVC compounds which found wide success at premium brands seeking non tainting packaging. To better understand the needs of the customers and their blow moulding departments Ian successfully trained in technical service allowing him to offer the best commercial and processing advice. 
 
Ian has developed a successful track record allowing him to cover several markets including Distributors, Film and Fibre and recently took responsibility for the team managing the sales to the Liquid Food Packaging and Medical markets of which Caps and Closures is a cornerstone business.

Luca Nanetti, Marketing Manager Closures & Containers B.U., Sacmi Imola S.C. 

 

Luca Nanetti joined SACMI Group in Imola, Italy 8 years ago. Graduated  at the University of Bologna he is now currently responsible for all marketing activities for the Closures & Containers B.U. of SACMI Imola. Before joining SACMI Imola he spent 9 years as International Key Accounts Manager in the hardware industry. A previous position in Public Relation in legal affairs in Southern California complete the profile.
 
Luca started with SACMI as Area Sales Manager for West Europe and Australasia being directly responsible for all sales activities within the Closures & Containers B.U. connected to the caps and closure business.
